Our Mission

There are more orphans in Russia today than there were in 1945, when, officially, their number was 600,000. As of several years ago, there were 867,000 orphans. Since 1994 the number of orphans in Russia has doubled. Only 5-10% have no living parents. The rest of them are social orphans, whose parents are alive, but who have been deprived of their parental rights. In 2003, for instance, 32,600 parents were deprived of their parental rights and the number of children in residential schools ('internats’) increased by 36,000 in that year.

Yearn Foundation is a US-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing basic material and medical needs for disadvantaged orphanages in Russia and Eastern Europe. Our goal is to inspire orphans to strive for more and equip them with tools for success, focusing on independent life and career skills for emancipated orphans (17-23 years). Join us in making a meaningful difference in the lives of these children.
